The next Thanksgiving prayer is customized from your Iona resource known as Celtic Hopes from Iona. It appeared particularly beautiful with this year, due to its empathy for creation, and our stewardship of the island earth we call home.
O Sun behind all suns
I provide you with greeting this latest day.
Let all Creation praise you,
Allow the daylight
and also the shadows praise you
Allow the fertile earth
and also the swelling ocean praise you
Allow the winds and also the rain,
the lightning and also the the thunder
praise you
Let everything breathes,
all beings, praise you
And That I shall praise you.
O God of existence
I provide you with greeting this very day.
This Psalm echoes the a few of the praise psalms, especially Psalm 148, another wonderful Psalm for Thanksgiving. May each of them be hopes for any fortunate Thanksgiving week and our on-going everyday practice of gratitude.
Psalm 148
Hallelujah! Praise god in the heavens
praise God within the heights.
Praise god, whatever you angels
sing praise, whatever you hosts of paradise.
Praise god, sun and moon
sing praise, whatever you shining stars.
Praise god, paradise of heavens,
and also you waters over the heavens.
Allow them to praise the specific LORD,
who commanded, plus they were produced,
6who built them into stand fast forever and ever,
providing them with legislation that shall not perish.
Praise god in the earth,
you ocean monsters and all sorts of deeps
fire and hail, snow and fog,
tempestuous wind, doing God’s will
mountain tops and all sorts of hillsides,
fruit trees and all sorts of cedars
wild monsters and all sorts of cattle,
sneaking things and flying wild birds
sovereigns of the world and all sorts of peoples,
princes and all sorts of rulers around the globe
youthful men and maidens,
old and youthful together.
Allow them to praise the specific LORD,
whose name only is exalted, whose splendor has ended earth and paradise.
God has elevated up strength for anyone and praise for those faithful servants,
the kids of Israel, a those who are close to the LORD. Hallelujah!
